Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how RocketRune ("we", "us"), operated by Alan Ritchie based in Florida, collects, uses, and protects information when you use rocketrune.com (the "Site").
You can use the launch schedule, countdowns and the free features without an account and without choosing any optional tool.
Information we collect
Account information: If you create an account, our sign-in provider, Clerk, stores your email address and sign-in details. We receive your email address and a user identifier. We never see or store your password.
Alert settings and email: If you turn on launch alerts, we store the email address and the choices you make (which alerts, your time zone, and whether you want twilight alerts) and use them to send the emails you asked for. The weekly digest and alerts are sent through our email provider, Resend.
Favorites: Your favorite launches are kept in your browser. If you are signed in, a copy is also kept in your account so it follows you between devices.
Calendar link: If you create a calendar feed link, we store a private code that connects that link to your account. Anyone who has the link can read that feed.
Payment information: If you subscribe to RocketRune Pro, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your card details. We keep your subscription status and the Stripe customer and subscription references, so we can provide Pro features and let you manage your subscription.
Your location
Location is optional. If you choose to share it, your browser asks for permission first. We use your position to work out which way to face and how high a launch will appear, and to fetch a cloud forecast.
- Your position is rounded to about 1 km on your device before it is sent to us.
- Our servers ask OpenWeatherMap for the cloud forecast using a position rounded to about 11 km. That request comes from our servers, not your browser.
- If you choose "Use once", we do not save it to your browser or your account. If you choose to save it, it is kept in your browser until you remove it, and, if you are signed in, in your account so your alerts and viewing scores can use it.
- You can remove a saved location at any time in Privacy choices. You do not need an account to remove the copy in your browser.
Viewing estimates are estimates. They can change with launch timing, flight path and weather, and they do not account for trees, buildings or terrain around you.
Your choices about optional tools
When you first visit, we ask whether you allow optional tools. Until you choose, none of them is loaded and none sends anything. You can reject all of them and still use the Site. Your choice is kept in your browser, with its date and no identifier, for 180 days, and you can change it at any time in Cookie & Privacy Settings. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, advertising measurement stays off.
- Analytics (Vercel Analytics): counts page views and the actions people take so we can see what works, and keeps the campaign you arrived through for the visit.
- Advertising measurement (Google Ads and Meta): when allowed, each receives a record of page views and, if you subscribe, the subscription and its value, so we can measure our advertising. Both companies may set their own cookies.
- External media (YouTube and OpenStreetMap): when allowed, launch webcasts and maps load from those companies, which receive your IP address and may use their own cookies. Until then, each shows a notice and a button to load it.

Not covered by that choice: the tracker and the Pro page load their typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google when those pages open and Google receives your IP address and browser details.
Technical information
Like most websites, our hosting provider, Vercel, handles each request to the Site and keeps technical logs of it, such as the address requested, the time and your browser type. Vercel sets how long these logs are kept.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to run the Site, send the alerts you request, provide and bill for RocketRune Pro, and, if you allow it, understand usage and measure our advertising.
Who else handles your information
The Site relies on other companies that handle data under their own privacy policies: Vercel (hosting and, if allowed, analytics), Clerk (sign-in), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), OpenWeatherMap (cloud forecasts), and Google Fonts. If you allow them, also Google Ads, Meta, YouTube and OpenStreetMap. Our launch schedule comes from The Space Devs' Launch Library, and we send it no information about you.
Your rights and choices
- See and download your data. If you are signed in, your account privacy page shows what we hold and lets you download it.
- Stop emails. The unsubscribe link in every alert email, or the same option on your account privacy page, turns alert emails off. It keeps your account and your other settings.
- Delete your account. Your account privacy page deletes your account. It cancels any subscription, so Pro access ends immediately, and removes your alert settings (including any saved location), favorites, calendar link, and subscription record from our systems, and then your sign-in account. We keep a record that the account was deleted, containing only an internal identifier and the date, so a late message from our payment provider does not bring it back. Stripe keeps its own records of payments already made, and we cannot delete those ourselves.
- No account, or anything else. Email us at hello@rocketrune.com. We may ask you to confirm the request from the address it concerns.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.
How long we keep information
We keep your account information, alert settings, favorites, calendar link, and subscription record until you delete your account. Items kept in your browser stay there until you remove them or clear your browser's site data. Your privacy choice expires after 180 days. How long our providers keep information is set by them.
Children's privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
